XTB Investment Plans 2026: Ready-Made Portfolios and Stocks

Introduction

If you are working out how to start investing in the UK and you would rather not pick every holding yourself, XTB has just changed something worth knowing about. XTB Investment Plans, the automated portfolio builder sitting inside one of the better known investment platforms UK investors use, has been rebuilt. You can now choose prebuilt investment plans, carry on building ETF investment plans, or invest in stocks and funds together in a single custom stock portfolio. For investing beginners in the UK, that removes the hardest step. Published 6 September 2026.

YourWalletManager has a commercial partnership with XTB. If you open an account through a link on this page we may be paid a fee. That does not change what you pay and it does not change what we write. Every figure below comes from XTB’s own published UK pages, checked on 6 September 2026.

Capital at risk. Investment values can rise or fall. 0% commission up to 100k EUR per month. Other fees may apply.

Quick Answer: What Changed In XTB Investment Plans

XTB has rebuilt its Investment Plans. You can now choose a ready-made portfolio, pick a sector plan, or build your own from more than 3,400 stocks and 1,800 ETFs rather than ETFs alone. Plans start from 15 GBP, cost nothing to set up or run, and dealing is commission-free up to the equivalent of 100,000 EUR of turnover a month.

What XTB Investment Plans Are

An Investment Plan is a basket of holdings that you set percentage weights for, then feed with regular contributions. XTB’s Auto Invest handles the recurring part. You choose an amount, a frequency and a funding method, and each deposit is spread across the plan according to the weights you set.

The idea is not new. What has changed is the range of what can go inside a plan, and how much of the decision you can hand over to a ready-made template. Until this update, plans were assembled from ETFs. Individual companies are now in scope too.

You can run up to ten plans at once, all of them free to run, and there is no minimum holding period.

XTB Investment Plans offers ready-made, sector and do-it-yourself routes
The three ways into an XTB Investment Plan.

The Three Routes Into A Plan

XTB now offers three ways in, and they solve genuinely different problems.

Route What it gives you Who it fits
Ready-made plans Globally diversified portfolios across different risk profiles, with the composition already set Someone who wants one decision rather than twenty
Sector plans Global equity portfolios focused on specific sectors and trends Someone with a view on an industry and a tolerance for concentration
Do-it-yourself plans Full flexibility across more than 3,400 stocks and 1,800 ETFs, mixed in any weighting Someone who wants control over every holding

Ready-made and sector plans come with details you can inspect before you commit, including the plan’s rating, its composition and how it has performed in previous years. XTB presents sector plans as portfolios deliberately concentrated on particular sectors and trends, and that is worth taking at face value. Concentration is a choice, not a free upgrade, and past performance tells you nothing reliable about what comes next.

Stocks Are The Real Change

Until this update a plan could only hold ETFs. Individual companies can now sit alongside them in the same portfolio.

Fifteen Pounds Is The Entry Point

The low minimum is what makes monthly investing workable on a small budget, rather than something you save up for.

Concentration Cuts Both Ways

A sector plan narrows your exposure on purpose. That amplifies a good run and a bad one equally.

What XTB Investment Plans Cost

Costs are the part beginners most often underestimate, so here they are in full, taken from XTB’s own UK Investment Plans page.

Two lines deserve a second look. The commission-free allowance is quoted as a euro figure even on the UK site, so the sterling equivalent moves with the exchange rate. And the 0.5% currency conversion charge applies whenever you buy something priced in a currency your account does not hold, which for most UK investors means anything listed in the United States or continental Europe. On a 500 GBP monthly contribution into a US listed ETF that is 2.50 GBP a month, and our compound interest calculator will show you what a drag of that size does across a decade.

The Refreshed Interface

The update also brings a cleaner interface, with the structure of your portfolio and your results laid out more clearly than before. That matters more than it sounds. The main behavioural risk in automated investing is not the automation, it is losing track of what you actually own, and a portfolio you cannot read at a glance is one you are more likely to abandon in a bad month.

Who XTB Investment Plans Suit

Investment Plans suit you if you want to invest regularly, would rather not research every holding, and care about a low headline cost. The 15 GBP entry point makes monthly investing realistic on a small budget, and the commission-free allowance is far above anything a beginner will trade through.

They suit you less well if you want a fund supermarket stocked with actively managed funds and investment trusts, or if you need a SIPP. XTB does offer a Flexible Stocks and Shares ISA in the UK, but its Investment Plans pages do not state whether a plan can be run inside that wrapper, so confirm it with XTB before you assume it can. If the tax wrapper is your priority, start with our guide to the best stocks and shares ISAs instead.

Our full XTB review covers the wider account, and if you are still deciding, the find your broker tool and our broker comparisons put it side by side with the rest of the UK market.
